アブラハムは愛する独り子イサクを「焼き尽くす献げ物」として献げるようにと神様に命じられた。アブラハム最大の試練である。自分ではどうしようもない状況の中でもアブラハムは神様への信頼と希望を持ち続けた。そして御言葉に従い続けた。神様はそのアブラハムのために犠牲の小羊を用意された。アブラハムは神様の呼びかけに「はい」と答えた時、その小羊を見出して祝福を得る。神様はご自身の独り子主イエスを十字架につけられ、私たちの罪の贖いとされた。主の十字架を仰ぐことが私たちの希望の根拠である。
